Developing a Fearless Team

Fear has an insatiable appetite for uncertainty and the unknown. If you’re not mindful and guard yourself from fear, it can consume you.

How do you build and develop a fearless team when you don’t have all the answers yourself?

1. Remind your team that they are priceless. You couldn’t do your job without them. Never-ending changes are physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting. Tell them you value them and appreciate their commitment. OFTEN.

2. Encourage and build up one another. Don’t give up on them and don’t let them give up on themselves. A kind word spoken can uplift and turn around someone who’s struggling. Recognize even the smallest of accomplishments.

3. Give and receive forgiveness. Encourage openness to new ideas and calculated risks. Your team should never be afraid of failure or retribution. This gives them the freedom to go forward confidently and fearlessly together.

Fear should never be a permanent resident on your team. As leaders, we have the responsibility to support, encourage, value, and give grace to our teams.
